PERCENTAGE :- Percent means 'for every hundred'. OR It can be defined as " a fraction whose denominator is 100 is called percentage, and the numerator of the fraction is called rate percent".Thus, x percent means x hundredth, written as x%.
CONVERSION OF PERCENTAGE :-
CONVERT PERCENT INTO FRACTION :-
Rule :- To convert percent into fraction, drop the percent sign and divide the number by 100 and simplify.
For eg. 5%
= $\frac{5}{100}$
= $\frac{1}{20}$
CONVERT PERCENT INTO RATIO :-
Rule :- To convert percent into ratio, first convert percent into fraction in the simplest form and then to ratio.
For eg. 25%
= $\frac{25}{100}$
= $\frac{1}{4}$
$\therefore $ Required ratio = 1:4
CONVERT PERCENT INTO DECIMAL :-
Rule :- To convert percent into decimal, drop the percent sign and then shift the decimal point two places to the left.
For eg. 115%
= $\frac{115}{100}$
= 1.15
CONVERT FRACTION INTO PERCENT :-
Rule :- To convert fraction into percent, multiply the fraction by 100 and write % sign.
For eg. $\frac{3}{25}$
= $\left ( \frac{3}{25}\, \times 100 \, \right)$%
= 12 %
CONVERT RATIO INTO PERCENT :-
Rule :- To convert ratio into percent, first write the ratio as a fraction, then multiply by 100 and write % sign.
For eg. 9:25
= $\frac{9}{25}$
= $\left ( \frac{9}{25}\, \times 100 \, \right)$%
= 36 %
CONVERT DECIMAL INTO PERCENT :-
Rule :- To convert decimal into percent, shift the decimal point two places to the right and write % sign OR multiply by 100 and and put % sign.
For eg. 0.045
= ( 0.045 $\times$ 100 )%
= 4.5 %
Rule :- To convert percent into fraction, drop the percent sign and divide the number by 100 and simplify.
For eg. 5%
= $\frac{5}{100}$
